Naturopathy and Massage: A Natural & Holistic Approach to Health

Naturopathy and Massage empower individuals to live a healthy lifestyle by emphasizing the importance of sun exposure, a good night’s rest, regular exercise, effective stress management, fresh water, and a nutritious diet. Consequently, these practices collectively contribute to overall well-being.

Moreover, we focus on the body’s inherent capacity to heal itself, using evidence-based scientific research. Instead of merely treating symptoms, we identify and address the root cause of your health issues, ensuring a more comprehensive approach to health.

At Tweak Health, we prioritize individualized holistic care. Therefore, we avoid generic dietary plans and temporary treatments that merely mask symptoms. Instead, we personalize your treatment to suit your specific needs and unique health journey. As a result, our approach leads to more effective and lasting health improvements.

However, Melanie does not work in the areas of severe mental illness, bipolar disorder, or severe depression. Thus, for these specific conditions, we recommend seeking specialized care.

What to Expect at Your First Naturopathy and Massage Consult?

Naturopathy and Massage help individuals live a healthy lifestyle by emphasizing the importance of sun, night, exercise, stress management, fresh water, and a healthy diet. Therefore, incorporating these elements into your daily routine can significantly enhance your overall well-being.

During an initial Naturopathy and Massage consultation, you will undergo a detailed health assessment. Firstly, we will ask about your current concerns, health priorities, health history, family history, and daily nutrition. Consequently, this information allows us to tailor your treatment plan specifically to your needs.

Before your appointment, please prepare a list of all current supplements and medications, including names and doses. If you’re unsure, simply bring the products with you. This ensures we have accurate information for your assessment.

Typically, we perform tests to investigate and uncover the root cause of your health concerns. Subsequently, we personalize your treatment to meet your unique needs and health journey. This approach ensures that you receive the most effective care possible.

Depending on your diagnosis, our holistic care may include nutritional and lifestyle suggestions, nutritional supplements, and herbal medicine. These elements work together to heal from the inside out, providing a comprehensive approach to your health.

At Tweak Health, we take a holistic approach to wellness. Melanie, our highly experienced Naturopath, is here to guide and support you on your journey to optimal health. Ultimately, our goal is to help you achieve and maintain a state of well-being that allows you to live your best life.

Functional & Medical Pathology Tests

Our Promise: To increase accessibility, tests are charged directly by NutriPath with no markup on our behalf

Popular tests include:

  • Saliva cortisol testing for stress, anxiety, and fatigue
  • Complete Microbiome Mapping through a stool test
  • Sleep hormone analysis using melatonin saliva tests
  • Saliva hormone testing for various conditions
  • MTHFR testing with a simple buccal (mouth) swab

Complete Microbiome Mapping involves a simple, hygienic stool test that you can conveniently do at home in the privacy of your bathroom. Additionally, this test provides your Naturopath with detailed information about the microorganisms inhabiting your gastrointestinal tract.

Furthermore, the results are science-based and screen for pathogenic bacteria, commensal bacteria, opportunistic pathogens, yeast, viruses, parasites, H.pylori, as well as mucous and blood.

Moreover, Microbiome Mapping can be highly beneficial for addressing symptoms such as:

  • Gastrointestinal cramping and pain
  • Flatulence
  • Bloating
  • Constipation
  • Diarrhea
  • Reflux/heartburn
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome

The test costs approximately $360 plus $20 for express postage. *Organized by Tweak Health, payment made directly to Nutripath.

The Omega-3 Index Test is a simple, on-the-spot finger-prick test. It measures the percentage of EPA and DHA in red blood cell (RBC) fatty acids.

Specifically, the test measures:

  • Omega-3 index (total combined EPA and DHA)
  • Omega-6
  • EPA
    acid ratio
  • Total trans fats, including 24 fatty acids (FAs) such as:
    • Omega-3 FAs
    • Omega-6 FAs
    • Monosaturated FAs
    • Saturated FAs
    • Trans FAs

The test costs approximately $50, including postage.

Organized by Tweak.Health and paid directly to Nutripath.

The Adrenocortex hormone profile, a non-invasive saliva test, reliably measures stress response and reveals adrenal imbalances. Consequently, lifestyle, physical, and psychological stresses constantly demand the adrenal glands, and if they become depleted, adrenal fatigue or insufficiency may occur.

Each person has two adrenal glands, located on top of each kidney. Notably, these glands play a crucial role in the body’s endocrine (hormonal) system. Adrenal fatigue is very common today, primarily due to the physical and psychological demands we place on our adrenal glands.

Furthermore, salivary cortisol testing, another effective non-invasive method, evaluates the bioactive levels of important stress hormones, cortisol, and DHEA.

This hormone test (stress test) uncovers:

  • Biochemical imbalances
  • Underlying anxiety
  • Depression
  • Chronic fatigue syndrome
  • Obesity
  • Dysglycemia
  • And many other clinical conditions that affect our daily lives

By examining four saliva samples over a 12-hour period for cortisol and DHEA levels, this test provides critical insights.

The approximate cost of the test is $80, plus $20 for express postage.

Frequently Asked Questions

A follow-up consultation is recommended two to four weeks after your initial consultation to review the treatment protocol. Dosages may need to be increased or decreased and reviewed.

Please note from 1 April 2019, as part of the Australian government reforms, unfortunately all health insurers no longer pay benefits towards Naturopathy.

Naturopaths are trained in drug/herb/nutrient interactions and will not recommend supplements which interact with medications. It is essential to disclose all medications and existing supplements during your consultation.

You are welcome to bring a partner or friend if you need support. Please bear in mind I will be asking questions about your symptoms, health history and mental, physical and emotional health. If you need to bring children, please bring something to keep them occupied in the clinic room with you.

This is a common question and it all depends on the person, the severity of the health problem and duration of the illness and symptoms.

Natural therapies and nutritional changes may not always provide instant results as it can take two to four months for the body to turn over a new cycle of stronger, healthier cells.

However, many people notice improvements in energy, digestion, immune responses and reduction in pain after seven days.

Compliance is essential and it’s not just a matter of taking a supplement as a quick fix. Lifestyle and nutritional changes are an essential part of well-being and the healing process.

Recover, release, and restore.
These sessions will be tailored specifically to your body to help you recover from injuries and pain. Prevention is better than cure.

So what is a LYNO Session?

Restore Freedom of movement and address the cause of  chronic pain and injuries

Most chronic pain and recurring injuries stem from the body’s retention of past injuries, or excessive strain, predominantly stored within the fascia.

This causes the fascia to lock or brace.

When the mobility of the fascia is restricted, it leads to misalignment and impaired movement, ultimately causing overload and wear and tear.

Through the Lyno method’s comprehensive full-body assessment, areas of movement restriction are identified, and the fascia is released accordingly.

It consists of the following steps:

  1. A comprehensive subjective assessment. This is used to get as much information as possible from the client.
  2. Core functionality testing (The Bunkie Test). This allows us to clearly see where function has been lost.
  3. Range of motion testing (The FROM Test). We use 50 tests to see where your body is locked in a short position.  We release where your fascia is locked in a shortened position and retest your range of motion. We usually get immediate improvements in range unless there is a structural issue.
  4. Yellow Page Wedges are placed in your shoes if needed. They activate specific neural pathways allowing for further improvements in the core functionality tests.

Through this process, you will experience improvements in range of motion and ‘strength’.

This will allow your body to function better and reduce wear and tear on joints, ligaments and tendons as well as reduce strain on muscles.

Ease pain and discomfort

Massage works on many levels; these include the physical, psychological and emotional levels. The body, mind and spirit are inherently related and if any of these areas are affected it affects the individual as a whole. A healthy person moves between action, inaction, stress and relaxation. Massage plays a role in restoring unity and balance to the body, mind and emotions as it allows the healing process to begin.

Claire completed a sports massage course in 2014 with the goal of helping athletes enhance their performance.  The principles of sports massage can really be applied to anyone. She will also incorporate muscle activation into her massage sessions.

There are 5 main applications of sports massage:

1.       Recovery-to help the body recover after activity

2.       Remedial- to improve a debilitating condition

3.       Rehabilitation-To facilitate healing after an injury

4.       Maintenance-To help maintain optimal health

5.       Event- to help prepare (or recover) from a specific sporting event

Claire will tailor the massage according to what your body needs to achieve the best results.
