A Natural & Holistic Approach To Health

Naturopathy supports a person to live a healthy lifestyle, with the foundations of naturopathy based on the importance of sun, night, exercise, stress management, fresh water and a healthy diet.

Our focus is on the body’s capacity to heal itself based on evidence-based scientific research. We identify and address the root cause of your health problems, rather than just treating symptoms with a bandaid approach.

At Tweak Health, we believe in individualised holistic care, this is why we don’t do generic dietary plans or recommend treatments that mask the symptoms temporarily. Your treatment is personalised to your needs and unique health journey.

Melanie does not work in the areas of severe mental illness, bipolar disease or severe depression.

What to Expect at Your
First Naturopathy Consult?

An initial Naturopathy consultation is like a detailed health consultation where you will be asked about your current concerns, health priorities, health history, family history and your daily nutrition.

Prior to your appointment, we ask that you prepare a list of all current supplements and medications (names and doses). If you’re unsure, just bring the products.

Typically, we test to investigate and uncover the root cause of your health concerns. Your treatment is personalised to your needs and unique health journey.

Depending on your diagnosis, our holistic care may involve nutritional and lifestyle suggestions, nutritional supplements, and/or herbal medicine that work together to heal from the inside out.

The Adrenocortex hormone profile is a non-invasive saliva test that serves as a reliable marker of stress response and a critical tool for revealing adrenal imbalances. Lifestyle, physical and psychological stresses put constant demands on the adrenal glands. If they become depleted adrenal fatigue or insufficiency may be experienced.

Each person has two adrenal glands both located on top of each of the body’s two kidneys. These glands are important to the body’s endocrine (hormonal) system. Adrenal fatigue is a very common condition in today’s society through the physical and physiological demands we put on our adrenal glands.

Salivary cortisol testing is an effective non-invasive salivary hormone test that evaluates bioactive levels of the body’s important stress hormones, cortisol and DHEA.

This hormone test (stress test) serves as a critical tool for uncovering:

  • Biochemical imbalances
  • Underlying anxiety
  • Depression
  • Chronic fatigue syndrome
  • Obesity
  • Dysglycemia,
  • and a host of other clinical conditions that may affect our day to day lives.

This hormone test examines 4 saliva samples over a 12-hour period for levels of cortisol and DHEA.

Test approximate cost $80 + $20 express postage

Frequently Asked Questions

A follow-up consultation is recommended two to four weeks after your initial consultation to review the treatment protocol. Dosages may need to be increased or decreased and reviewed.

Please note from 1 April 2019, as part of the Australian government reforms, unfortunately all health insurers no longer pay benefits towards Naturopathy.

Naturopaths are trained in drug/herb/nutrient interactions and will not recommend supplements which interact with medications. It is essential to disclose all medications and existing supplements during your consultation.

You are welcome to bring a partner or friend if you need support. Please bear in mind I will be asking questions about your symptoms, health history and mental, physical and emotional health. If you need to bring children, please bring something to keep them occupied in the clinic room with you.

This is a common question and it all depends on the person, the severity of the health problem and duration of the illness and symptoms.

Natural therapies and nutritional changes may not always provide instant results as it can take two to four months for the body to turn over a new cycle of stronger, healthier cells.

However, many people notice improvements in energy, digestion, immune responses and reduction in pain after seven days.

Compliance is essential and it’s not just a matter of taking a supplement as a quick fix. Lifestyle and nutritional changes are an essential part of well-being and the healing process.

Recover, release, and restore.
These sessions will be tailored specifically to your body to help you recover from injuries and pain. Prevention is better than cure.

So what is a Lyno session?

Restore Freedom of movement and address the cause of  chronic pain and injuries

Most chronic pain and recurring injuries stem from the body’s retention of past injuries, or excessive strain, predominantly stored within the fascia.

This causes the fascia to lock or brace.

When the mobility of the fascia is restricted, it leads to misalignment and impaired movement, ultimately causing overload and wear and tear.

Through the Lyno method’s comprehensive full-body assessment, areas of movement restriction are identified, and the fascia is released accordingly.

It consists of the following steps:

  1. A comprehensive subjective assessment. This is used to get as much information as possible from the client.
  2. Core functionality testing (The Bunkie Test). This allows us to clearly see where function has been lost.
  3. Range of motion testing (The FROM Test). We use 50 tests to see where your body is locked in a short position.  We release where your fascia is locked in a shortened position and retest your range of motion. We usually get immediate improvements in range unless there is a structural issue.
  4. Yellow Page Wedges are placed in your shoes if needed. They activate specific neural pathways allowing for further improvements in the core functionality tests.

Through this process, you will experience improvements in range of motion and ‘strength’.

This will allow your body to function better and reduce wear and tear on joints, ligaments and tendons as well as reduce strain on muscles.

Ease pain and discomfort

Massage works on many levels; these include the physical, psychological and emotional levels. The body, mind and spirit are inherently related and if any of these areas are affected it affects the individual as a whole. A healthy person moves between action, inaction, stress and relaxation. Massage plays a role in restoring unity and balance to the body, mind and emotions as it allows the healing process to begin.

Claire completed a sports massage course in 2014 with the goal of helping athletes enhance their performance.  The principles of sports massage can really be applied to anyone. She will also incorporate muscle activation into her massage sessions.

There are 5 main applications of sports massage:

1.       Recovery-to help the body recover after activity

2.       Remedial- to improve a debilitating condition

3.       Rehabilitation-To facilitate healing after an injury

4.       Maintenance-To help maintain optimal health

5.       Event- to help prepare (or recover) from a specific sporting event

Claire will tailor the massage according to what your body needs to achieve the best results.
