Strength & Performance Testing
Strength & Performance Testing Perth provides objective data on strength, balance, and side-to-side differences. We use VALD systems, including ForceDecks and Dynamo, to set a clear baseline and repeat testing over time.
Testing is guided by a physiotherapist. Results are explained in plain language, so you understand what the numbers mean and how they can support your plan.
What is objective strength testing?
Objective strength testing uses validated tools to measure force and control. It helps answer practical questions. How strong is each side? How steady is your balance? What has changed since the last check?
These measures do not replace a clinical assessment. They add useful context when you are rebuilding strength, planning return to activity, or progressing exercise.
Why do strength testing?
It gives you a clear starting point and supports progress tracking over time.
- Measure strength and power using objective data
- Check progress during rehabilitation
- Identify side-to-side differences
Who is it for?
Testing can suit many goals, from injury rehab to performance planning.
- Injury rehabilitation and post-surgery planning
- Return to sport or return to training
- Strength development goals
- Injury prevention planning
- Anyone who wants objective numbers
ForceDecks testing (VALD)
ForceDecks looks at how force is produced and absorbed during weight-bearing tasks.
- Strength: how much force you can produce.
- Balance: how evenly load is shared between left and right.
- Power: how quickly force is produced (useful for jumping and sprinting).
- Symmetry: whether one side is weaker or slower than the other.
- Landing control: how force is absorbed when landing from a jump.
Dynamo strength testing (VALD)
Dynamo focuses on isolated strength measures in a controlled and repeatable way.
- Muscle strength: measures a specific muscle group (e.g. shoulder, hip, knee).
- Side-to-side differences: shows if one side is weaker.
- Progress tracking: repeat checks over time during rehab planning.
- Imbalance checks: highlights weak areas that may matter for your goals.
- Return-to-training guidance: supports planning using objective data.
What to expect
You will be guided through the testing. Results are reviewed with you on the day.
- Testing selection based on your goals and current capacity
- Immediate results explained in plain language
- Repeat testing at key stages to track change over time
Testing visuals
Many people have not seen this type of testing before. These images show the style of equipment and the type of measurement visuals you may review with your physiotherapist.
How this fits with Hands-On Physiotherapy
Strength and performance testing is often used alongside Hands-On Physiotherapy and structured exercise planning. It can help clarify priorities, guide progression, and support return-to-activity planning.
If testing shows a side-to-side gap or reduced capacity, your physiotherapist can explain what that means and discuss practical next steps.
